Custom Challenge Coins Viet Nam Veterans Day, 18 August

![]()
For unit associations, RSL sub-branches and kindred organisations: The numbers at our commemorations are changing. Those who served are getting fewer, and those who gather to honour them know it. That makes what we do now matter more, not less.
A custom challenge coin is one of the quietest ways to mark that.
Struck to your organisation’s design — your badge, your motto, your dates of service — and presented at your August gathering, it becomes something a veteran carries in a pocket or leaves on a shelf where family will one day find it and ask about it. That question is the legacy continuing.
For sub-branches and kindred organisations coordinating this year’s commemorations, a run of coins is more affordable than most expect, even for modest numbers. Smaller groups often find that lower quantities actually suit the occasion: something made for the people in that room, on that day, not a generic keepsake.
What’s Worth Knowing
- Order early — Artwork and proofing time means orders placed in June–early July arrive comfortably before 18 August
- Meaningful design — Coins can incorporate unit citations, theatre ribbons, the Long Tan Cross, or whatever your association holds dear
- Flexible quantities — Minimum runs are negotiable for smaller branches; you won’t be pushed into ordering more than you need
A Conversation Worth Having
Respectfully, if your organisation is marking Viet Nam Veterans Day this year, it may be worth a conversation. The men and women who served deserve to be remembered in ways that last beyond a parade.
